Use Common Sense. Self-explanatory. This is the most important rule.
No personal attacks. If you say something about a person, keep it civil and professional, and preferably factual, and source your facts. If you're reporting original news about a person, treat your commentary as journalistic and use quotations appropriately or source your material. If you're statement is controversial, back it up. The editors reserve the right to delete anything brought to our attention as abusive, but generally we won't review every statement made and will attempt to work with you if there are issues.
Anonymous comments. We'd prefer everyone to use a real name, but will tolerate such comments to a point. Generally, anonymous comments have less credibility, and will be afforded less editorial protection, particularly if abusive.
Oakland County Focus. The focus of this blog is Oakland County. While we expect that state and larger issues often overlap into county issues, keep that in mind.
